"San Francisco is a world to explore. It is a place where the heart can go on a delightful adventure. It is a city in which the spirit can know refreshment every day." - William Saroyan

There is little more romantic than the setting sun behind the graceful arch of the Golden Gate Bridge.  The hills are aflame and there is a double sunset in the reflection in the city's skyscrapers.  This lovely city by the bay, which coyly plays hide and seek behind its playful layer of fog, has romance running through its bedrock.  Whether you are coming with a loved one, friends or to meet fellow adventure seekers, what better way to celebrate Valentine's day than by taking a pause to appreciate the beauty of the cool gray city of love?  You will start by exploring the trails of the Presidio and Lands End, then meet for a decedent meal at a truly special location in the Presidio (you really can't beat these views).  Who knows, your heart may just find a delightful adventure and catch fire with the sunset.

We couldn't be more excited to be partnering with the folks over at HeyHeys for this event!  As purveyors of high performance running tights and related big adventures, they embody everything we strive and stand for here at Encounter.

Tickets include a 5-course dinner.  Complimentary wine and beer provided throughout the entire meal.

Also included:

  • Guided trail run or guided hike
  • Gourmet snacks during your run or hike
  • Your own pair of HeyHeys (optional)
  • Gratuities
  • New friends!
  • $50 of ticket costs goes to the Greater Farallones Association, working hard to converse the marine habitats of the Farralon National Marine Sanctuary

the logistics

Arrival time for this Valentine's Day adventure will be 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 at the Warming Hut at Crissy Field, after which we will quickly embark upon the trails of the Presidio.  You should expect an approximate 4 to 6 mile hike or trail run.

At your arrival, we can store your personal belongings and we recommend bringing cozying layers to add on top of your running gear for dinner (but we'll bring blankets and have hot chocolate ready too just in case).

Detailed information, including the menu and trail routes, will be sent 72 hours in advance of the event.

Nic, who serves as our master cycling guide on cycling adventures, is perfecting his game as maître d' this Valentine's Day.  Nic is a master of humor, logistics, and most importantly, appreciating what everyone brings to the table. From time to time, he plays at being corporate attorney.
